Jumping in muddy puddles

What do you do when it pours with rain? You grab your gumboots so you can jump in puddles like Peppa pig.

This little scallywag melts my heart.  I told Miss Bee “you’re so sweet” and she replied “yes, like a marshmallow. I love you mumma.”

I love this one as she’s mid air.

Changing it up for play

Periodically I realise we’re in a play rut

I’m a huge believer in offering resources repeatedly as this provides the opportunity for the initial obvious play to be exhausted and new creative variants to commence.

But there are times when it all needs a freshen up. I try and think about my philosophy,  her needs and interests then adapt or replace accordingly. Best time is when she’s asleep as I can move things without her under foot.

The kitchen is still a favourite so it’s staying. I just tidied it up and moved it to a new spot.

She has a new found interest in drawing so I’ve brought out the table easel. As much as she loves the textas I’m a bit over her texta tattoo look.  Hence I’ve brought out the oil pastels. She went straight for the drawing area as I suspected.

The princess play tent thoughtfully set up as a musical instrument and book hide out was immediately rejected. “My castle is closed!” she said promptly pulling it off.  “I want my princess castle on the rug please”. She’s now hosting a tea party. “would you like dinner Peppa?  Here’s the menu.  What would you like?”. Now she’s in the kitchen preparing food for Peppa who’ll has ordered kiwi, strawberry and orange. “I made this for you Peppa,  This is your dip, I made it for you.  You need a fork”.

The new spot experimenting with its loose parts play on a mat. I think it looks inviting but it wasn’t as inviting as the drawing or the princess castle tent.

Adventures of Darsa

This kid makes me laugh. “Mum mum. Darsa (teddy) made a big mess!” points to the toys on the family room floor. Turns to the teddy and says “Darsa you made a big mess,  you need to tidy it up”. Now the conversation is “Darsa needs to do poo on the potty.  Where’s Darsa’s undies?” runs to her room and gets undies. Lots them on the teddy.  “Listen to your body Darsa. Pull down your pants.” puts Teddy on the potty “Darsa did a poo!  well done Darsa you’re a big boy.”  Never a dull moment…

Now Darsa is a baby and getting his nappy changed. She brought down the nappy changing mat,  nappy box and a nappy. “Lie still Darsa.  You’re getting changed. Take your nappy off. Have a nap.”

Now Darsa is under the nappy mat “blanket” and she’s having “mmmm fruit salad lunch.  even have this strawberry. Yummy. Mmmn Are you awake Darsa? Poor Darsa made a poo in his nappy. It’s so yucky,  goes in bin.”
